Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum

I went down to the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum to see the Spruce Goose (the Hughes H-4 Hercules). The plane is build entirely out of wood, has a wingspan of almost 100 meters, and is the largest flying boat ever built. It was completed by Hughes Aircraft Company in 1947 and only flown once. The plane was built mainly from birch(not spruce) because of the restrictions on metals, particularly aluminum, during the war. After the military decided not to use it, Howard Hughes stored it in a hanger built just for it and paid around $1 million a year to maintain it until his death in 1976.

I went up to Vancouver, British Columbia last weekend to visit some family.
Here are a few shots from my aunt’s deck!
The bridge in the pictures is the Lions Gate Bridge, which connects Vancouver and West Vancouver and goes through Stanley Park.

I went out to Tacoma after work to go try out the high ISO capabilities of my 7D.
All shots are at 6400 ISO, f/2.8, hand held without a tripod, and with no flash.
After shooting, I think that images are pretty much always usable up to ISO 3200, otherwise, if shot above ISO 3200, they are sketchy at best, but what that was about what i assumed, since the camera has an APS-C sensor.

Last weekend the Evergreen Freedom Foundation brought out Glenn Beck to speak at Safeco Field about preserving freedom and the need for a limited, accountable government. I had the privilege of joining nearly 8000 other Seattle area residents to listen to Glenn speak. While not only talking about the need for limited government, he also spent time to honor out troops, both past and present, which is something that isn’t done enough today.

Independence Day is the day that we celebrate our founding fathers declaring their independence from a tyrannical empire that taxed us to the brink of a revolution and restricted our freedoms, so much that we didn’t even have privilege to basic human rights. From that, the greatest nation ever was born, the United States of America. From that oppression, the American people have allowed all its citizens all the basic human rights one could hope for, plus many more then, in my opinion, the founding fathers could have ever dreamed of. But the revolution wasn’t merely the end of oppression, but the start of freedom and a chance for every man on earth to have a chance to live free. From our oppressed roots, we have fought for, and lost many brave American soldiers in an attempt to bring freedom throughout the world and help end tyrannical dictatorships that oppress their citizens. It is because of this that we celebrate the birthday of our great nation. But the fight for freedom is far from over. We will continue to defend our freedom and that of those being oppressed throughout the world

But today we thank God for what he has blessed us with and the country he ordained for us to live in and the freedoms he allowed us to have. We remember what the pain that our forefathers went through to ensure that our nation would become and remain the greatest nation on earth.

So God bless America, what is, has always been, and will always be the greatest nation the earth will ever see. Happy Birthday America, and Happy Independence Day America!

I had the pleasure of photographing Thrivefest, an event put on by Calvary Community Church, at the Puyallup Fair. It was an exciting night. We had the Strength Team, Boarders for Christ, Stellar Kart, and Calvary’s 7:33 band perform.
